Reflect upon the blessings of food and drink

Today is the 4th day of Ramadan, and we ask Allah to bless you and accept from you your righteous deeds in this special month. Ameen.

Each day of Ramadan is passing right before our eyes, and that is why we need to make the most of it before it is all over.

Something which can help us in developing our relationship with our fellow Muslims who are less fortunate than us, is to reflect upon our hunger and thirst that we are forced to feel.

Think about the difficulties of those who do not have the blessing of food and drink whenever they need it. Imagine if Allah would have made us go through such tests in our daily lives. The hunger and thirst that we feel in this month should function as a reminder for us to appreciate these blessings that some of us take for granted.

So, be grateful for whatever Allah has given you, and realize the little we need to do so that others may also have a decent Ramadan and Eid.

See what the ummah is going through and see how you can actively participate in order to help in any way possible.

One thing we can do is to use this to our benefit by making other people’s fast count for us as well. This means that if we feed or give a drink to someone who fasts, we can get the reward of feeding a fasting person.

This will also strengthen the feeling of brotherhood within our communities. May Allah make you and your family amongst those who benefit the ummah in every way, shape, and form. Ameen.

We all have a role to play in contributing to the society. If we, however, are unable to for some reason, at least we should try to support those who do it.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “If someone gives in charity something equal to a date from honestly earned money – and Allah doesn’t accept but what’s honestly earned – Allah takes it in His right (Hand) and then brings it up for its owner, as someone bringing up his baby horse, until it becomes like a mountain.”
